Italian Girl in Algiers - Week One

From left to right, mezzo-soprano Tammy Coil, in her Opera Company debut as Zulma, mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose as Isabella, and soprano Kiera Duffy, who last appeared as the Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, as Elvira take a moment to discuss their upcoming scene.


In the role of Isabella, mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose returns to the Academy of Music along with her cast mates from the 2006 production of Cinderella. Here Isabella arrives on the shores of Algiers with her traveling companion Taddeo, baritone Daniel Belcher.



What would you do to relax during a break from rehearsal? Supernumerary Bracey Berard uses one of the props to relax and strike a pose, while fellow super David Alexander plays a quick tune on the piano. Supernumeraries are small non-singing roles that are an integral part of every production.
